The Student Executive Team (SET)

The Student Executive Team (SET) is a group of driven individuals who demonstrate a strong Maverick Mindset and help create COB events and networking opportunities for students to attend. While connecting with faculty and students to advocate for positive change, SET members also promote engagement through COB-offered programs to both current and prospective students. Through weekly team meetings, students brainstorm areas for improvement within the COB as well as host and involve themselves with events such as panels and presentations.

Meet SET 2021-2022

Hometown: Hong Kong

Fun Fact: Manav speaks multiple languages

Graduation year: 2022

Hometown: Minnetonka, MN

Fun fact about Josie: Josie hopes to visit all 50 states in the US before 25 and she is happily on her way!

Why Josie joined SET: Josie joined SET to further her teamwork skills and improve her leadership skills. Josie says “there are many reasons why one should join the SET Team, but these are the two most important takeaways that I have found beneficial once joining the team.”

Fun fact: Andrew likes music

Why Andrew joined SET: “Joining SET gave me an opportunity to give back to the school and help provide current and future students with opportunities and continue the support that I’ve been fortunate enough to receive.”

Hometown: Karachi, Pakistan

Fun fact: Ibrahim is trilingual.

Why Ibrahim joined SET: “To help diversify and empower the College of Business by expressing international culture through my skillset and showing and promoting global and domestic students that there are unlimited opportunities to help grow and excel, leaving your mark in every step you take.”

Fun fact: Nick enjoys public speaking. Nick says about public speaking “many people do not like this, but I feel very comfortable in front of people and enjoy sharing information with people who want to learn.” 

Why Nick joined SET: “With it being my last year and the pandemic pretty much eliminating my junior year on campus I really wanted to be involved in a way that would benefit me long term and I could put on a resume. The financial benefits are great but the experience I knew I would get out of being a part of a program like this are unmatched.”

Fun Fact: He has applied to the TV Show, Survivor, 3 times and would do anything to get on the show.

Why Jake joined SET: “I joined SET to expand my network, to make lasting relationships, and to help students at MNSU get involved.”

Hometown: Austin, MN

Fun fact: Isaac’s family has a childcare center, so he has had 12+ kids in his household ever since he was born.”

Why Isaac joined SET: “I wanted to grow my connections in the COB while also helping the COB grow as a whole.”

Fun fact: Leo is building a collection of soccer jerseys that he buys on the internet!

Why Leo joined SET? “I joined SET because I want to be able to help the College of Business and the future COB students to have good experiences during college!”

Fun fact: Paige has an identical twin sister

Why Paige joined SET: “I joined SET to grow my leadership skills outside of the organization I was already involved with, Delta Sigma Pi.”

Fun fact: Kevin’s never been on an airplane before nor has he ever been outside of the United States.

Why Kevin joined SET: “After a year of isolation due to COVID and everything shifting online, I wanted to come back to engage in my community while also enhancing my collaboration and leadership skills.”

Fun fact: Baylee loves baking banana bread; she went through a phase where she baked a loaf a week”

Why Baylee joined SET: “I joined SET to assist students both in the COB and outside with connecting to all of the wonderful resources and experiences that the COB already has to offer and also solidify students feedback by taking action on and improved opportunities that students mention”

Fun Fact: Emilee owns a Pomeranian puppy named Kida!

Why Emilee joined SET: “I wanted to get more involved within the College of Business and help give students a chance to be more involved.”
