The Minnesota State University, Mankato Accounting Program is recognized for its excellence throughout Minnesota and the United States. Graduates of the Accounting Program consistently exceed the national average of first-time pass rate on the uniform CPA examination. The Accounting major is a professional program designed to prepare the student for work in one or more of three areas: public, industrial or governmental not for profit accounting. The department also offers minors in Accounting and Business Law.

Career Opportunities

With a BS in Accounting or 120 credit hours, opportunities exist in public or corporate accounting and not-for-profit and governmental work. Average entry level salaries range from $45,000, to $55,000.

The Accounting major qualifies students to make application to take the Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) examinations in Minnesota.
