There are two types of costs associated with the COB Laptop program:

  1. The cost of the Laptop
  2. A student program fee payable each semester you are enrolled in a laptop course.

All students are required to pay a $125 fee for each semester they are enrolled in a COB course. This fee supports features of the laptop program that distinguish the COB as a preferred College of Business in the upper Midwest. The fee provides several advantages to students while they are enrolled in COB courses: software site licenses for SPSS and Microsoft products, site licenses for access to premier business databases including Mergent Online, ProQuest ABI Inform, Business Source Premier, RIA Checkpoint, DemographicsNow, Euromonitor International, Standard and Poor's Research Insight, and online subscriptions to The Wall Street Journal and Business Week.

Laptop Costs

The cost of the COB laptop currently ranges from $849 to $1262, depending on which options you choose on your laptop. Find out more on the options available for your laptop. If you are enrolled in a COB laptop course when you purchase your COB laptop, you will not have to pay sales tax. If you are not enrolled in a COB course when you purchase the laptop, you will need to pay sales tax.

A 3-year complete care warranty is included in the cost of the laptop to help minimize unexpected costs related to laptop repair or replacement (battery is warranted for one year). A fourth year warranty extension can be purchased at an additional charge. We recommend that you include your laptop in your renter's or homeowner's insurance to cover theft and damage from natural disasters, which are not covered by the warranty.

College of Business Laptop Program Fee

The COB Laptop program fee is currently $125 per semester. These fees are reviewed at least annually to determine if changes are necessary. We strive to provide the best possible resources and services at the lowest possible cost and to keep any fee increases to a minimum. The fee covers costs for a large number of business-related subscriptions and databases, such as The Wall Street Journal, Standard & Poor's; Microsoft licensing; IT services; loaner laptops, and more.
