Dr. Basil J. Janavaras, Professor of International Business and Dr. Harold Thiewes, Professor of Finance along with 30 Minnesota State University, Mankato students went on the Greek Study Tour during spring break on March 7 - 15, 2008.
The purpose of the trip was to gain an international perspective, experience the local/regional culture, and learn how business is done in that part of the world. The study tour included a visit to the Greek capital of Athens, a one day cruise visiting the Aegean islands (Aegina, Hydra and Poros), a visit to the cities of Delphi, Corinth, Mycenae and Epidaurus, a one day visit to the ancient Greek ruins (Acropolis, Parthenon, Sounion and more), company visits and seminars at 3M, Skouras and Lafkiotis Wineries and Olive Oil Co-op and a reception and dinner/dance by the Governor of the state of Corinthia. With this program both undergraduate and graduate students are able to register for credit of independent study.
