Admission

Admission to the MBA Program in the College of Business is competitive.  Minnesota State University, Mankato offers MBA programs in both Mankato and in the Twin Cities (7700 France Avenue).  Please note that the MBA application process is identical for both locations.   Students can choose the location that best suits their needs when applying to the MBA Program.   To apply for the MBA Program, please follow the instructions below. 

Candidates must provide the following admission information: 

1. Completed Application for Graduate Study located on the College of Graduate Studies and Research website.
2. Two official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
3. Completed immunization form.
4. $40 application fee.
5. Scores on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).  A score of at least 500 is recommended within the last five years.  Information about the GMAT is available online at www.mba.com/mba. Test scores must be sent directly to the College of Graduate Studies from GMAC. 
6. If necessary, scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Students who do not use English as their first language must demonstrate ability to study in English by submitting a score of at least 500 on the written test, 173 on the computer–based test, or 61 or better on the web–based exam.  We will also accept a score of 6 or better on the IELTS.  Applicants from countries where English is the SOLE OFFICIAL language of instruction (Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Canada-except Quebec, England, Ghana, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, New Zealand, Nigeria, Scotland, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad, Tobago, Uganda, and Wales) are typically not required to submit TOEFL results.
7. Completed MBA application form (note: application form is accessible online) is located on the College of Business website.
8. Two letters of reference.
9. Resume.

An applicant must apply and be accepted to the College of Graduate Studies and Research before applying to the MBA program in the College of Business.

Admission Deadline:

Application materials must be received by the following dates:

Fall Semester Deadline: July 1

Spring Semester Deadline: December 1

Admission Formula:

Regular Admission:  A student with a standard formula score of 1000 or higher, a Minimum GMAT score of 500, and has completed all prerequisite courses will be admitted as a regular MBA student.

Conditional Admission:  A student that lacks specific prerequisite courses, or their GMAT score is slightly less than 500, but their formula score is at 1000, may be admitted on a conditional basis. 

Standard Formula Score is calculated by multiplying undergraduate GPA times 200 plus the GMAT score.

Prerequisite courses are the undergraduate equivalent to - Principles of Accounting, Principles of Finance, Principles of Marketing, Micro/Macro Economics, Statistics, Principles of International Business.
