2017 Big Ideas Challenge Finalists!
Food Truck and Ice Skating Rink - is a community ice skating rink in the winter that transforms to a skate park in the summer on Riverfront Drive involving a rich atmosphere of music, art, family activities and food truck services.
MESSY Dog LLC - provides force free, positive reinforcement, science based methods of dog training for dogs and their owners. The Big Idea for MESSY Dog is to expand the business to include low stress grooming services from a groomer certified in Low Stress Handling.
Primate Longboards - a longboarding company that manufactures and sells hand-crafted organic longboards. Their mission is to provide customers with longboards that are both reliable and exceptional; while supporting the community and positively impacting the environment by lowering emission rates and planting trees.
ProtoTec Solutions - offers affordable 3D printing and I want to start an online marketplace to offer pre-printed products. We offer this service and a rate much lower than most commercial 3D printing facilitates so it is more attainable for the general public.
Webytor - a website builder, or application, where people can create their website with a private domain or subdomain without having any coding knowledge or web site layout knowledge. Dynamic Content Management System(CMS) along with a template according the website category will be generated automatically within few click.
The Big Ideas Challenge is a new venture competition that encourages and celebrates students' innovative business ideas.
The Big Ideas Challenge is open to any Minnesota State Mankato student or alumnus within two years of graduating. Individual and team entries are welcome. This new venture competition gives students the opportunity to compete for money to fund their business.

Round 1: February 10, 2017 (deadline extended, was January 15)
- Submit 1-2 page pitch summary and a 1-2 minute video
Round 2: April 3, 2017
- Top five selected teams submit a full project plan
Final Round: April 26, 2017
- Finalists present to panel of judges and winners will be announced
- Ostrander Auditorium from 2-4 p.m.
- Grand Prize: $10,000
- People’s Choice (live audience voting): $2,000
