Integrated Business Experience

Gain a deeper understanding of the intricacies of business by participating in the Integrated Business Experience during your junior year. You'll take what you're learning in the classroom and apply it to running an actual business. You and your classmates will start with an idea, develop the organization, secure the necessary financing and then deliver your product or service to the market. If the business is a success, net profits will be donated to a local charity.

Entrepreneurship and Innovation

Thinking like an entrepreneur doesn’t necessarily mean starting a new business. Entrepreneurial thinking is for any student, from any discipline who wants to explore and implement ideas that create social, environmental or economic value. From an engineering major developing the next energy efficient vehicle, to the computer science major developing new software, to the artist wanting to open their own gallery, entrepreneurship & innovation helps prepare you for what lies ahead in the working world.

Big Ideas Challenge

The College of Business at Minnesota State University – Mankato will once again host their student new venture competition April 17, 2018 called The Big Ideas Challenge. The mission is to provide a platform to support, celebrate and promote the newest and most innovative business ideas from our students. The competition will be open to individuals or teams of current MNSU students from any discipline.

Maverick Fund

Make real investment decisions with real money through the Maverick Fund, a hands-on course that is supported by the Minnesota State Mankato Foundation. Students are given a small percent of the Foundation's funds to invest with the help of an advisor and are asked to report on the process to the Foundation board, which includes investment faculty and professionals. Students gain experience in a safe and supportive environment, but also learn about the real-world pressures inherent in investing.

Learn on the job through an internship with respected businesses, industries and governmental agencies. Our internship coordinator will help place you in a setting that's appropriate to your career goals and supervise and support you throughout your internship experience. You'll gain real-world experience, complete academic credits and earn a little extra money as well; most internships are paid.

Study Away Opportunities

Find global solutions to real-world business matters when you participate in any of the study abroad opportunities available to College of Business students. Although we do offer program-specific trips, we encourage all College of Business students to consider studying abroad in any way possible. Minnesota State Mankato has programs with university partners in Austria, Australia, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Scotland and Sweden.

College of Business Clubs & Activities

Network with fellow students and company leaders, develop leadership skills and make a difference in the community by participating in any of the College's nine student organizations, which represent most of the majors and programs we offer. We also support regular events designed to enhance your classroom experience, including an annual Etiquette Dinner, an e-mentoring program, student competitions, lecture series, golf outings, Dean's List recognition and job and career fairs.
